Top Gun Flight School

At iParaglide Top Gun Flight School, we take pride in having taught over 2,000 paragliding students in our 27 years of operation.

 

We are the longest running school based in Metro Vancouver. Due to our central location, we are the only school that flies all of the relevant kiting parks, training hills and mountains within a 3 hour radius of Vancouver.  This empowers pilots to get to know the key training and flying spots early, optimizes and accelerates learning, and allows them to grow into great future pilots.  

We have the reputation of being an industry leader with an emphasis on engineered safety systems, quality instruction, the finest equipment and creating a positive learning environment for fun and empowering flying.

We offer the highest level of accreditation, with Senior HPAC and Advanced USHPA paragliding instructors, who coach from first flight to expert paraglider pilots and teach and qualify new paragliding instructors.

Vancouver, Chilliwack, Bellingham, Seattle, Whistler & Pemberton area paragliding weather forecast based on data available at 0500. 

High pressure with clear skies.  

YVR 3000 ft winds aloft light and variable, becoming WNW to 19 km/hr mid afternoon.  Valley wind W to 15 km/hr.  Novice peak lapse rate -1.2C/1000ft.

SEA 3000 ft winds aloft N to 13 km/hr. Valley wind NNW to 15 km/hr.   Novice peak lapse rate -2.3C/1000ft.

1. Paragliding Chilliwack: -2.7C/1000ft advanced peak lapse rate.  Forecast lapse rate is suspect of being significantly higher than actual.  Woodside for P2 pilots 0800-1400 and 1800-2100 with P3 conditions 1400-1800. Bridal for P2 pilots 1100-1400 and 1800-2100 with P3 conditions 1400-1800. Chances to paraglide 90%.

2. Paragliding Bellingham: -1.9C/1000ft novice peak lapse rate.  Blanchard Mountain for P2 pilots 0800-2000. Paragliding prospects 90%. 

3. Paragliding Vancouver: -1.2C/1000ft novice peak lapse rate.  Grouse for GMFT P4 advanced pilots 1000-2100. 90% paragliding chances. 

4. Paragliding Seattle: -2.3C/1000ft novice peak lapse rate.  Tiger in possible light lee-side due to north wind aloft today. Watch for possible rough conditions, proceed or do not fly accordingly.  P4 advanced pilots 1000-1900. 60% chances for paragliding. 

5. Paragliding Pemberton: -2.8C/1000ft advanced peak lapse rate. Early light and variable conditions becoming WNW to 19 km/hr means Whistler express S wind likely to arrive mid-afternoon.  Mt. Mckenzie for P2 pilots early 0900-1400 with P4 advanced to non flyable conditions thereafter 1400-2000.  Paragliding chances 90% early, 50% late.  

6. Paragliding Whistler: -3.0C/1000ft advanced peak lapse rate.  Watch for possible Whistler express S wind blown out conditionsmid afternoon. Whistler team P4 advanced pilots 0900-2000. 90% paragliding chances early, 50% late.

Vancouver, Chilliwack, Bellingham, Seattle, Whistler & Pemberton area paragliding weather forecast based on data available at 0500. 

High pressure with clear skies.  

YVR 3000 ft winds aloft light E to 22 km/hr in morning becoming light and variable mid afternoon. Valley wind NW to 30 km/hr in morning easing to 10 km/hr mid afternoon. Novice peak lapse rate -1.9C/1000ft.

SEA 3000 ft winds aloft NE 17 km/hr increasing to 22 km/hr. Valley wind NNW to 15 km/hr becoming gusty to 30 km/hr in afternoon. Intermediate peak lapse rate -2.5C/1000ft. 

iParaglide Right Site Ranking:

1. Bellingham Paragliding: -1.7C/1000ft novice peak lapse rate.  Blanchard Mountain may be below winds aloft influence.  Watch for possible lee-side conditions, in which case don't fly. Blanchard for P3 pilots 1000-2000. Paragliding prospects 70%. 

2. Paragliding Vancouver: -1.9C/1000ft novice peak lapse rate. Wait for east wind aloft to subside. Grouse for GMFT P4 advanced pilots 1300-2100. 70% paragliding chances. 

3. Pemberton Paragliding: -3.1C/1000ft advanced peak lapse rate. Watch for lee-side conditions due to E wind aloft early then change to light and variable winds aloft mid afternoon.  Mt. Mckenzie with very strong conditions for P4 advanced pilots only 1300-1900 with conditions mellowing late in the day for P2 pilots 1900-2100.  70% paragliding prospects. 

4. Whistler Paragliding: -3.3C/1000ft advanced peak lapse rate.  Watch for lee-side conditions due to E wind aloft early then change to light and variable winds aloft mid afternoon. Watch for very strong and rough conditions at peak. Whistler team P4 advanced pilots 1300-2000. 60% chances to paraglide.

5. Paragliding Chilliwack: -3.1C/1000ft advanced peak lapse rate.  Outflow aloft in morning places all sites in lee-side, do not fly.  Mid afternoon winds aloft forecast to light and variable. Strong conditions for P4 advanced pilots only 1400-1900 then conditions easing to P2 1900-2100.  Chances to paraglide 50%.

6. Paragliding Seattle: -2.5C/1000ft intermediate peak lapse rate.  Tiger in lee-side today. Paragliding not recommended.

High pressure with clear skies.  

YVR 3000 ft winds aloft light and variable. Valley wind early outflow to 5 km/hr becoming W inflow to 10 km/hr with sea-breeze arrival. Novice peak lapse rate -1.9C/1000ft.

SEA 3000 ft winds aloft NE to 15 km/hr easing to light and variable by early afternoon. Valley wind light and variable becoming NW to 15 km/hr. Novice peak lapse rate -2.3C/1000ft.

1. Paragliding Chilliwack: -2.9C/1000ft advanced peak lapse rate.  Light and variable winds aloft make both Woodside and especially Bridal good choices today.  Woodside for P2 pilots 0800-1300 and 1800-2100 with strong thermals and P4 advanced conditions 1300-1800. Bridal for P2 pilots 1000-1400 and 1800-2100 with advanced P4 conditions 1400-1800. Chances to paraglide 90%.

2. Paragliding Pemberton: -2.9C/1000ft advanced peak lapse rate. Light and variable winds aloft make for great XC potential in all directions today. Mt. McKenzie for P2 novice pilots 0800-1300 and 1800-2100 with advanced P4 conditions 1300-1800.  90% paragliding prospects. 

3. Paragliding Seattle: -2.3C/1000ft novice peak lapse rate. Wait for NE wind aloft to subside to light and variable winds aloft. Tiger for P3 intermediate pilots 1200-1800 with P2 novice conditions 1800-2100. Paragliding chances 80%. 

4. Paragliding Bellingham: -2.1C/1000ft novice peak lapse rate.  Blanchard Mountain for P2 pilots 0800-2000. Paragliding prospects 90%. 

5. Paragliding Vancouver: -1.9C/1000ft novice peak lapse rate. Grouse for GMFT P4 advanced pilots 1000-2100. 90% paragliding chances. 

6. Paragliding Whistler: -3.1C/1000ft advanced peak lapse rate. Watch for strong conditions at peak. Whistler team P4 advanced pilots 0900-2000. 90% chances to paraglide.

Low pressure to W causing increased cloudiness, 60-100% POP and instability. 

YVR 3000 ft winds SW to 15 km/hr, easing to light and variable mid afternoon. Valley wind E outflow to 15 km/hr becoming SW to 15 km/hr mid afternoon. Intermediate peak lapse rate -2.5C/1000ft.

SEA 3000 ft winds aloft SW to 20 km/hr, easing to light and variable mid afternoon. Valley wind SW to 20 km/hr. Advanced peak lapse rate -3.1C/1000ft.

1. Bellingham Paragliding: -2.7C/1000ft advanced peak lapse rate.  Wait for early cloud to clear. Blanchard Mountain for P4 pilots 1100-2000. Watch for strong conditions.  Paragliding prospects 70%.

Low pressure to NW causing increased cloudiness and chance of precipitation as day progresses.

YVR 3000 ft winds SE to 15 km/hr becoming light and variable in afternoon. Valley wind early outflow to 15 km/hr becoming light and variable in afternoon. Novice peak lapse rate -2.0C/1000ft.

SEA 3000 ft winds aloft light and variable. Valley wind light and variable becoming W to 10 km/hr.

1. Bellingham Paragliding: -1.9C/1000ft novice peak lapse rate.  Blanchard Mountain for P2 pilots 0800-2000. conditions. Paragliding prospects 90%. 

2. Seattle Paragliding: -2.3C/1000ft. Tiger Mountain for P2 pilots 0800-2000. Chances to paraglide 90%.

Paragliding not recommended in Chilliwack today due to early SE winds aloft placing sites in lee-side. Then progressively clouding skies with chance of showers late in the day. Pemberton & Whistler not recommended for paragliding today due to early cloud progressing to showers by mid afternoon.
