Top Gun Flight School

At iParaglide Top Gun Flight School, we take pride in having taught over 2,000 paragliding students in our 27 years of operation.

 

We are the longest running school based in Metro Vancouver. Due to our central location, we are the only school that flies all of the relevant kiting parks, training hills and mountains within a 3 hour radius of Vancouver.  This empowers pilots to get to know the key training and flying spots early, optimizes and accelerates learning, and allows them to grow into great future pilots.  

We have the reputation of being an industry leader with an emphasis on engineered safety systems, quality instruction, the finest equipment and creating a positive learning environment for fun and empowering flying.

We offer the highest level of accreditation, with Senior HPAC and Advanced USHPA paragliding instructors, who coach from first flight to expert paraglider pilots and teach and qualify new paragliding instructors.

Vancouver, Chilliwack, Bellingham, Seattle, Whistler & Pemberton paragliding weather forecast, based on data available at 0600.

High pressure with mostly clear skies, excepting Pemberton & Whistler with 30% POP.

YVR 3000 ft winds aloft SE to 15 km/hr easing to light and variable. Valley flow east outflow to 10 km/hr becoming inflow to 10 km/hr by mid morning. Advanced peak lapse rate -2.7C/1000ft.

SEA 3000 ft winds NE 9km/hr becoming NNE to 15 km/hr. Valley winds outflow NE to 10 km/hr becoming NW to 15 km/hr. Novice peak lapse rate -2.1C/1000ft.

1. Paragliding Chilliwack: -3.0C/1000ft advanced peak lapse rate.  Wait for possible SE wind aloft to subside to light and variable. Woodside for novice P2 pilots 0900-1400 and 1800-2100 with P4 conditions 1400-1800. Bridal for P2 pilots 1000-1400 and 1700-2100 with P4 conditions 1400-1700.  80% paragliding chances. 

2. Paragliding Vancouver: -2.7C/1000ft novice peak lapse rate.  Grouse for GMFT P4 advanced pilots 1000-2000. 80% paragliding chances.

2. Paragliding Pemberton: -2.6C/1000ft intermediate peak lapse rate. 30% POP with possible scattered to full cloud.  Mt. McKenzie with P2 conditions 0900-1400 and 1800-2100 with P3 conditions 1400-1800. 50% chances to paraglide. 

3. Paragliding Whistler: -2.8C/1000ft advanced peak lapse rate. 30% POP with possible scattered to full cloud. Whistler Team P4 pilots 1000-2000. Chances to paraglide 50%. 

5. Paragliding Bellingham: -1.8 C/1000ft novice peak lapse rate.  Blanchard not good today as lee-side due to NNE wind aloft. Paragliding not recommended. 

6. Paragliding Seattle: -2.1C/1000ft novice peak lapse rate. Tiger not good today as lee-side due to NNE wind aloft. Paragliding not recommended.

Vancouver, Chilliwack, Bellingham, Seattle, Whistler & Pemberton paragliding weather forecast, based on data available at 0500.

Jet stream has dipped far south, bringing cool polar air mass down,  with a low aloft.  40-60% POP in Vancouver, Chilliwack, Whistler and Pemberton.

Sunny skies in Bellingham and Seattle, which is south of low pressure.  

YVR 3000 ft winds aloft light and variable. Valley E outflow to 10 km/hr becoming SW inflow to 15 km/hr. Advanced peak lapse rate -3.0C/1000ft.

SEA 3000 ft winds aloft SW to 11 km/h easing to light and variable by mid afternoon. Valley winds SW to 11 km/hr. Intermediate peak lapse rate -2.6C/1000ft.

1. Paragliding Seattle: -2.6C/1000ft intermediate peak lapse rate. Great day for Tiger for P2 pilots 0800-1300 and 1800-2100 with P3 intermediate conditions 1300-1800. Chances to paraglide 90%.

2. Paragliding Bellingham: -2.5C/1000ft intermediate peak lapse rate.  Good day for Blanchard with P2 conditions 0900-1300 and 1700-2000 with P3 conditions 1300-1700. Paragliding prospects 90%.  

Paragliding is not recommended in Vancouver, Chilliwack, Whistler or Pemberton today due to mostly cloudy skies with 40-60% POP.

High pressure with clear skies.

YVR 3000 ft winds aloft light and variable, forecast for afternoon is for SE wind to 20 km/hr.  Valley flow light and variable becoming W inflow to 15 km/hr as the day progresses.  Novice peak lapse rate -1.7C/1000ft.

SEA 3000 ft winds aloft light and variable becoming South to 15 km/hr. Valley winds light and variable and gradually becoming inflow W to 10 km/hr.  Novice peak lapse rate -2.3C/1000ft.

1. Paragliding Chilliwack: -2.3C/1000ft novice peak lapse rate.  Woodside for novice P2 pilots 0900-1400 and 1700-2100 with P3 conditions 1400-1700.  Bridal for P2 pilots 1000-1400 and 1700-2100 with P3 conditions 1400-1700.  90% paragliding chances.

3. Paragliding Whistler: -3.2C/1000ft advanced peak lapse rate. Strong day with light and variable winds aloft making for good conditions. Whistler Team P4 pilots 1000-2000. Chances to paraglide 90%. 

4. Paragliding Seattle: -2.4C/1000ft intermediate peak lapse rate. Great day to fly Tiger.  P2 pilots 0800-1300 and 1800-2000 with P3 intermediate conditions 1300-1800. Chances to paraglide 90%.

Paragliding weather forecast for Vancouver, Chilliwack, Bellingham, Seattle, Whistler & Pemberton areas, based on data available at 0600.

Pressure transitioning with mixed skies.  Clear in select areas early, with potential for over development and thunder showers mid to late afternoon. 

YVR 3000 ft winds aloft NNE to 11 km/hr and becoming NW to 13 km/hr.  Valley winds E to NE outflow to 10 km/hr.  Novice peak lapse rate -1.9C/1000ft.

SEA 3000 ft winds aloft ENE to 19 km/hr.  Valley winds gusty and NNW to 32 km/hr. Intermediate peak lapse rate -2.4C/1000ft. 

iParaglide Right Site Ranking:

Paragliding not recommended in Chiilwack today. Woodside with NE wind aloft combined with  Advanced Peak Lapse rate of -2.8C/1000ft creating dangerous, turbulent, lee side conditions.  Although NE winds aloft favour Bridal for soaring, predominantly east outflow in valley, strong lapse rate of -2.8C/1000ft and POP increasing to 60% with possibility of thunder showers by mid to late afternoon make for too unpredictable conditions to fly.  

Paragliding not recommended in Vancouver today due to NE winds aloft placing mountain in lee side. 

Paragliding not recommended today in Whistler and Pemberton due to NE winds aloft placing sites in lee side and 30% POP with a chance of thunderstorm in afternoon. 

Paragliding not recommended today in Bellingham or Seattle today due to NE winds aloft placing sites in lee side.
